Hear from our team

Real stories from the people who work here  why they joined, how they’ve grown, and what keeps them at WebPros.

Why did you decide to join WebPros in the first place?

WebPros actually decided that we should join the company when they asked if they could acquire our startup. My wife and I had founded the company nine years earlier and five years ago it became part of WebPros. Today the product is known as SQM, but back then it was Leankoala and koality. Since our investors were the same people who had also invested in WebPros, we already knew that it was a good and reliable company to work with. We had a lot of interaction during the initial phase, and it quickly felt like working with the WebPros team would be both enjoyable and inspiring. Five years later, we are still with the company—along with the rest of our team—and we have never regretted the decision.

How has your experience at WebPros encouraged you to grow, take on new challenges, or explore different roles and teams within the company?

I have always been good at networking, and that skill becomes even more enjoyable in a larger company than in a small one. Simply wanting to understand what other parts of the company do naturally leads to personal growth and new perspectives. After a short time, I had the opportunity to lead the entire Monitoring Engineering team, and we eventually merged with 360 Monitoring. After the last restructuring, I was asked whether I would like to take over the SaaS area and help drive teams such as Sitejet, SocialBee, and Nova forward. Since it has become increasingly important to me to work on strategy and to support people in their development, it was immediately clear that I wanted to take on the role, even though it means spending about 70 percent of my day in meetings. In summary, I have taken on many challenges over the past five years and, thanks to the company, have been able to overcome them. I am also grateful to Xaviar, who mentored me throughout the past year.

What does the opportunity of working remotely give you?

To be honest, I really appreciate a hybrid model. I enjoy being in the office, connecting with people, making spontaneous plans for an after-work beer, and gaining insights from teams I don’t work with directly. At the same time, it’s nice to work from home occasionally when it fits my schedule or helps me focus. In practice, I’m usually in the Hamburg office around three days a week. This is purely my personal preference, and I completely understand why many others enjoy working fully remotely or while traveling.

What aspects of teamwork and collaboration at WebPros do you find most effective and enjoyable?

Over the past year, the engineering organization has introduced many effective improvements, especially in the direction of standardization. The more teams use similar tools and follow similar processes, the easier it becomes to exchange experiences and support one another. This has made teamwork more productive and enjoyable across the entire organization.

What do you hope we never lose as we grow as a company?

I hope we never lose the culture of honest feedback across all levels of hierarchy. Even though we have built a rather extensive organizational structure over time, I have never felt that I could not openly address issues, even when they originated from higher levels. It is important that such feedback is always given respectfully, but maintaining this openness is something I value deeply and hope we preserve forever.

Share one fun fact, hobby, or interest outside of work that reflects who you are.

I love software development, but I rarely get the chance to write code during my actual workday anymore. Because of that, I always have at least one private project that I work on in my free time. Sometimes these projects evolve into something bigger, like WebInsights, which eventually became an official WebPros project.

Why did you decide to join WebPros in the first place?

Ten years ago, I joined the Product Management team of Plesk, which remains one of WebPros’ flagship brands to this day. Even back then, it was already an established name in the web hosting industry, and becoming a part of such an exceptional team felt like a significant stroke of luck – especially since I was still a university student and initially joined the company as an intern.

How has your experience at WebPros encouraged you to grow, take on new challenges, or explore different roles and teams within the company?

The first factor driving my motivation is the sheer number of highly experienced colleagues, from whom there is still much to learn even after many years of working together.

New challenges are indeed constantly emerging in our field. The products themselves change, and the technologies and tools evolve – right now, for example, AI is rapidly getting everywhere. Roles and teams also inevitably change, and it’s fantastic when you can organically move and try something new. As I mentioned, I initially started on the PM team and it was the moment when there was a growing need for analytics. That’s how I gradually became a data analyst, and I now work on the Data and AI team – however, my PM background constantly comes in useful for many parts of my current job.

What does the opportunity of working remotely give you?

Oh, it gives me a level of freedom that I truly appreciate. A flexible schedule and no obligation to commute to the office save a significant amount of time and energy, allowing me to start almost every working day feeling fresh and enthusiastic 🙂 Of course, like everything good, this freedom comes at a price: I wish I could see my great colleagues more often. On the flip side, without WebPros’ full-remote policy, I wouldn’t have had the chance to meet many of them at all.

What aspects of teamwork and collaboration at WebPros do you find most effective and enjoyable?

For me, the best part is the culture: people are friendly, responsive, and respect each other’s expertise. It makes teamwork feel natural, not forced.

What do you hope we never lose as we grow as a company?

That sense of mutual respect and trust between us.

We have something of a tradition in WebPros Cologne office: I host a quiz at the winter corporate event! While being an analyst is all about finding answers, I must admit that the search for questions is no less engaging.

Why did you decide to join WebPros in the first place?

I spent around twenty years in education—first as a full-time English teacher, then working as a writer with Writers in the Schools, mentoring kids in creative writing. I loved teaching and working with students, but with all the budget cuts to HISD and grant money running out, a lot of writer positions were cut. I took whatever work I could get, which meant teaching at four different elementary schools—I ended up with 20 classes of 2nd and 3rd graders. Not my jam at all. I’m used to the big kids. It started to feel like time for a change.

I’d actually thought about applying at cPanel off and on for years, maybe as a scrum master or technical writer. Interestingly, I was already familiar with cPanel before they even arrived in Houston. Back in 2000, I played EverQuest with one of their first employees. When Nick was looking for a city to move cPanel to, he called me up to ask about Houston. He visited the next week, liked it, and the rest is history—cPanel made Houston their home. I still remember him taking the whole group out for dinner at El Pueblito to celebrate.

After all those years, things came full circle, and I finally applied to cPanel. My first day—wild timing—was literally the first day of the pandemic lockdown.

And that’s how I ended up starting at WebPros: a mix of loving to help people communicate, knowing the company for ages, and being open to new adventures when life shifted gears.

How has your experience at WebPros encouraged you to grow, take on new challenges, or explore different roles and teams within the company?

I started out as a level 1 writer with almost no technical background. Over time, I’ve worked my way up to Technical Writer IV and Manager of Technical Documentation. Some days I feel like a documentation badass, and other days I’m still a total newbie—there’s always more to learn, and I’m excited to keep growing on this journey.

My experience at WebPros has really encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and embrace growth. I had to learn a whole new career from scratch and picked up a lot of new skills along the way. Honestly, it’s similar to what I did before—I’m still teaching, except now my “students” are the people using our products and documentation. I strongly believe that it’s all about constantly growing and learning.

Some days I feel like a documentation badass, and other days I’m still a total newbie—there’s always more to learn, and I’m excited to keep growing on this journey. I strongly believe that nobody knows it all—it’s all about constantly growing and learning. WebPros has supported me in trying new things, taking on different roles, and reminding me that personal development is an ongoing process.

What does the opportunity of working remotely give you?

The best part of remote work for me is definitely avoiding Houston traffic—it’s a huge stress relief not to be stuck commuting every day. Plus, I’ve had the chance to travel and spend time in different cities around the US, sometimes staying for a week or two at a time. Having the flexibility to work wherever I want has been a game-changer, making life a lot more enjoyable.

What aspects of teamwork and collaboration at WebPros do you find most effective and enjoyable?

What I enjoy most about teamwork at WebPros is being able to bounce ideas off other people and collaborate on creating user-friendly interfaces. I also appreciate working together to provide consistent terminology and support across our products. It’s great to be part of a team where everyone’s input is valued, and we’re all working toward the same goals.

What do you hope we never lose as we grow as a company?

I hope we never lose our sense of community as we grow. Even after working remotely for the last six years, I still feel that connection with my coworkers, which I truly appreciate. The diversity at WebPros and the way everyone comes together to help and support each other is something special—and I hope that stays at the heart of our company, no matter how much we expand.

Share one fun fact, hobby, or interest outside of work that reflects who you are.

I’m a huge gamer—video games, board games, tabletop games, you name it! I’ve been playing games all my life, and my board game collection has grown to over 200 titles. We even have a dining table that transforms into a game table at home. I’ve played D&D campaigns with co-workers and hosted board game nights. So if you’re ever in Houston and want to game, let me know—I’m always up for rolling some dice or breaking out a new board game!

Why did you decide to join WebPros in the first place?

I wasn’t happy in my previous career, and I knew many people who worked at WebPros and spoke nonstop about their love of working for the company. It was their joy that inspired me to completely change my industry and role so that I could experience that for myself. Their passion inspired me to take a chance and apply for the open trainer position, and WebPros gave me the opportunity to grow in my skills and work in a positive, dynamic environment.

How has your experience at WebPros encouraged you to grow, take on new challenges, or explore different roles and teams within the company?

WebPros continually innovates to develop its product ecosystem. That means, as a member of the learning and development team, I’m always learning new things and being given opportunities to help our employees grow and meet evolving needs. The constant drive to be the dominant force in the web hosting industry means that I must continually push myself to learn and grow, which keeps me on my toes. There is no such thing as a routine day.

What does the opportunity of working remotely give you?

About $200 a month in gas savings, way more cat fur on my clothes, an aversion to sunlight, and the ability to start my day off right without coming into the office angry because of traffic. I also have the freedom to be flexible with my time so that a dentist appointment, trip to the DMV, or something fun like taking a walk to clear my mind doesn’t restrict me from doing my job effectively.

What aspects of teamwork and collaboration at WebPros do you find most effective and enjoyable?

I work with a diverse group that brings in different experiences and points of view I wouldn’t have thought of on my own. My team consists of 6 people in 6 different time zones across the world, and we love it. In my role, I have the opportunity to interact with people across the entire company, and everyone is eager to collaborate and work together to achieve our goals.

What do you hope we never lose as we grow as a company?

Our amazing benefits, dedication to employee wellbeing, and leadership accessibility. I love our sense of humor and the freedom to be myself.

Share one fun fact, hobby, or interest outside of work that reflects who you are.

When I get home from work (aka, close my computer and walk into the next room), I use that extra no-commute energy to participate in my many hobbies and interests. Mainly, performing comedy improvisation. Since working at WebPros, I have found that I have more energy and time to devote to my passions, and that passion is then reflected in my work.

Why did you decide to join WebPros in the first place?

Back then it was Plesk and Parallels and Plesk were known brands in the IT industry and well-known company in Novosibirsk.

I’ve applied because I wanted to focus solely on IT (my previous job was an intersection of IT and Telecom).

Also I wanted to practice English daily at work as the international company allowed that.

I’ve started working for Plesk even despite salary in the previous company was a bit higher.

How has your experience at WebPros encouraged you to grow, take on new challenges, or explore different roles and teams within the company?

WebPros is evolving and this often opens new opportunities. Also, I’ve also had an atmosphere of openness with my managers and I could bring some projects I was interested in that were useful for the department or my manager suggested some challenging tasks.

What does the opportunity of working remotely give you?

After I’ve moved to Bulgaria, I’ve returned to the office for socialisation. Still, I work from home from time to time and it allows me to have a good work-life balance.

What aspects of teamwork and collaboration at WebPros do you find most effective and enjoyable?

There’s transparency and openness in many aspects in the company. You may pretty much reach out to any person that you think will be beneficial for the project/task.

What do you hope we never lose as we grow as a company?

The atmosphere of startup and not over engineered business processes.

Outside of work I allocate some time to learn more IT-related things but my way to clear my mind is mountain bike.

Why did you decide to join WebPros in the first place?

I started my journey as the internal applications developer at cPanel. I had worked for many IT organizations, but my dream was to work for a true software company. cPanel gave me that opportunity of a lifetime. I had the privilege of working with some of the smartest and most talented people you could ever meet. As the company grew, I took on more responsibility, building and managing the IT organization and eventually joining the leadership team.

How has your experience at WebPros encouraged you to grow, take on new challenges, or explore different roles and teams within the company?

After being in management for over 10 years, I started to miss the hands-on technical challenges that come with being an individual contributor. I always planned to transition out of management but wasn’t sure how to make that move. When cPanel was acquired by WebPros, it created exactly the opportunity I was looking for. I’m now part of the Data & AI team at WebPros. Our team plays an important and strategic role in driving the company’s future success, and I’m incredibly excited to be part of it.

What does the opportunity of working remotely give you?

I lived in Houston Texas for most of my life but dreamed of moving to a rural setting. Working remotely made that possible. I was able to move to Tennessee. I’ve even traded in my Tesla for a tractor.

What aspects of teamwork and collaboration at WebPros do you find most effective and enjoyable?

We practice Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, and we have a world-class group of Agile coaches who help us collaborate effectively and reach our full potential.

What do you hope we never lose as we grow as a company?

Our connection to our customers is so important. I hope we continue to put the customer front and center of every decision we make.

We have nine chickens and are looking to expand. Meet Ralphie — he’s our rooster, an excellent alarm clock, and he makes sure I get moving in the morning.

Why did you decide to join WebPros in the first place?

In 2010, cPanel recruited me for their Enkompass Technical Support team. Enkompass was the cPanel & WHM product for Windows. The cPanel Technical Support manager brought me on board for my experience with MSSQL and Windows 2008 servers. At the time, cPanel offered many benefits that my previous employer did not. The provided lunch, better schedule, bonus plans, and company culture were too good to turn down.

How has your experience at WebPros encouraged you to grow, take on new challenges, or explore different roles and teams within the company?

When the company decided to end support for Enkompass, management gave the option to move to the cPanel Support team. I spent a few months providing support for cPanel & WHM. Then an opportunity opened on the Documentation Team, and I took it. The transition from technical support to writing documentation was a challenge. While I had spent many years providing customers with information via ticket systems and telephone calls, I had never written formal documentation. However, over time, I was able to develop my writing skills. Often, my technical expertise improved the quality of my written content. Over time, I assumed new responsibilities. I provide technical training for new employees, manage Confluence spaces, and oversee our Git repositories and CI pipelines.

What does the opportunity of working remotely give you?

The biggest advantage of working remotely is reclaiming time. Houston is a large city with over two million residents. Traffic is a constant problem. My daily commute was always a minimum of 30 minutes if there were no car accidents. Working remotely allowed me to reclaim an hour a day of my personal time. Over the course of a year, that is a significant amount of reclaimed time.

What aspects of teamwork and collaboration at WebPros do you find most effective and enjoyable?

I enjoy the beginning and end of large projects. When new projects begin, you can assist teams with their user interface and documentation planning. A writer’s assistance can help the teams anticipate tasks and improve the overall outcome of the project. I like the end of the project because you get to see all the work come together and appreciate the results.

What do you hope we never lose as we grow as a company?

My relationship with my manager is the most important thing about working at WebPros. I hope that the company continues to recognize that trust in leadership is crucial to a healthy relationship between leaders and their direct reports.

Share one fun fact, hobby, or interest outside of work that reflects who you are.

I am a photographer and have practiced the hobby since 2009. Photography is a significant part of my life, and I have made many friends through this hobby. I have published over twelve thousand photos. The hobby has even affected my work life. If you have ever seen photos from a cPanel Conference, you could be looking at a photo I took.

Why did you decide to join WebPros?

I joined six and a half years ago, when Plesk was still a separate legal entity. I was attracted by the company’s flexibility and the speed with which they implemented changes. Before that, I spent seven years working at a large financial company, where everything was slow and any changes required multiple rounds of approval. Here, I immediately saw how quickly my ideas could be brought to life.

At first, there wasn’t an open position that exactly matched my experience, but during interviews, I shared several project ideas, and the company created a position for me. This flexibility and openness truly impressed me. Moving to Plesk was a downgrade for me. After five years in a management position, I began working as an HR specialist, in a department with a flat structure. I later transitioned to the role of HR Business Partner when Plesk’s structure began to evolve within WebPros. In just 6.5 years with the company, I’ve held four different positions. There was no time to get bored.

What makes WebPros special and keeps you here?

Every year feels completely different—there’s always something new happening. Despite numerous changes and acquisitions, it still feels like one company. Each acquisition brings fresh energy and new perspectives, making work dynamic and interesting. At the same time, there’s a strong sense of stability and independence; we maintain the corporate traditions of each of our products, and I value this balance.

How has WebPros supported your learning and development?

WebPros provides tools and funding for continuous training for all teams. For the third year, we’ve been providing unlimited access to the Udemy platform for all our team members. All required technical certifications are also covered by the company. We organize English courses.

Whenever I wanted to improve my skills or learn something new, I always felt supported. After just my first six months with the company, I had the opportunity to attend a two-day HR conference in another city. This year, I also completed a company-sponsored course and received an international certificate.

What does working remotely mean to you?

I really value work-life balance, and WebPros gives me exactly that. I love that I can choose where I work—when I want to stay home, I have that option, but I usually prefer working in the office because it helps me clearly separate work and personal time. This flexibility and trust mean a lot to me.

What do you enjoy most about teamwork and collaboration at WebPros?

What I like most is the flexibility while maintaining high efficiency. We work effectively across different time zones—usually asynchronously, sometimes in real time—and this autonomy allows us to react quickly. There’s no need to wait for official approval for every small decision, which gives people the opportunity to take responsibility and solve problems.

What do you hope WebPros never loses as it grows?

Our unique culture spanning a variety of products. Each development team has its own identity, but together we form a diverse and strong community. Despite all the changes, we’ve maintained this “island of stability” where people feel confident and connected.

Tell us something about yourself outside of work.

I learn new languages. I can’t say it’s a complete love, but it’s definitely a point of voluntary, positive complication. I studied Chinese for 10 years in school, and English is a lifelong learning process.

I also love short, action-packed trips; the ideal trip is to visit three to five countries and spend a day or two in each. I’ve found that learning new cultures and languages inspires me both personally and professionally.
